Shiny new pink laptop is shiny and new and delectably pink. ♥

Had a great couple of days, writing-wise. I've got two short stories pretty much complete, polished, and ready to head out the door, and today I submitted a novelette to an anthology I found via Ralan's SpecFic & Humor Webstravaganza. We'll see how it goes. I love it when a lot of projects come together and I have a bunch of stuff ready for submission—it means more chances of something being accepted. Mostly, I just want to be able to share some stories; there's a lot of talk about writing on my social networking haunts, but I never have anything to show for it. Keeping my fingers crossed something gets picked up soon!

But now that most of my shorter projects are done, I'm starting to get itchy fingers to write something new. I just don't know what yet. Hmm. There are so many places to draw inspiration from it's hard to know where to start. Music, movies, the outside world, the inner workings of dreams? Although, my dreams rarely stay with me long enough to write down. I often wake up thinking "Ooh, that was good!" but then it's gone in a flicker.

Been watching my way through The X Files, nearing the end of season 3 now. One thing I'm noticing more and more is how often Mulder and Scully say each other's names. I mean, it's like every sentence.

"Um whut, this is weird, Scully."
"What's weird, Mulder?"
"This weird thing right here, Scully."
"I'm sorry, I just don't see it, Mulder."
"Damnit, Scully!"

It just sounds so unnatural, especially given they're often the only two people in a scene. Guh.

Ah, but I still love The X Files, and my gripe isn't big enough to stop me from relishing every second—even the cheesy plots, silly monsters, and bad 90s fashion! :)
